In addition to being beautiful to look at, Kelray Firepits are designed to be used with both Wood or Gas, and can be switched between fuel sources in minutes. You don’t need to order a specific wood burning model, or a specific gas burning model. In fact going from Wood to Gas just requires installing the appropriate gas kit for your setup (Natural Gas vs Liquid Propane). 

Many people love the smell, sound, and process of building a wood burning fire, but that does come with extra steps of buying and preparing the wood, building the fire and maintaining it - personally we see that as part of the experience to be enjoyed! However Gas offers a lot of convenience, where you can quickly turn on the fire at any moment, and control the level of flames and heat as you desire. Plus gas avoids the challenges of smoke, and can be used year round as there are fewer restrictions on Gas fireplaces during fire-bans. 

With Kelray, you can enjoy whichever style of fire you prefer. Fire, Gas, or both! 

Kelray Firepits are made using 3/16” Hot Rolled Steel with a pickled and oiled finish. This thick metal is designed to weather, but also last the test of time and withstand heat without warping.

While burning the temperature of the metal will increase, particularly areas close to the flames. However, once the fire is out, the fins act as an effective radiator and heat is dissipated very quickly. Within minutes the larger fins are cool to the touch - the benefits of metal's heat properties! Typically after the fire is out, we are able to disassemble the firepit by hand within 10 minutes.
