About Us
The Kelray Story
The Kelray range was created by New Zealanders Kelvin Davis and Ray Maddix. Dissatisfied with the structural resilience of outdoor heaters in a coastal setting, the pair set out with a goal – create the world’s most durable outdoor heater. The Kelray Heater was born.
Though Kelvin and Ray have since retired, Kelray has continued, building a strong global reputation for a product which can withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions.

Their dedication and expertise are the pillars of our success in Canada, and we're proud to have them at the helm of our business.
We work closely with Alex’s father, Clive Menkin who acquired Kelray Outdoor Heating from founders Kelvin and Ray after 30 years in business.
Geoff and Alex are excited to bring the warmth and reliability of Kelray to the challenging coastal and alpine environments of Canada, especially with the strong Canadian culture of enjoying outdoor dining and gatherings.

Firepit Expansion
Our journey into firepits began when Geoff's sister was setting up a Glamp on their farm in Te Kuiti, New Zealand. She wanted a firepit that would stand-out and be a feature point for their stunning hilltop accommodation - Wild Canvas. The result was an amazing 50 fin firepit, weighing over 360kg, forming a centrepiece surrounded by the 700 acre farm.
This spawned a path to designing a range of firepits that are just as much artwork as they are functional firepits. We focus on quality and longevity in our material choice, and aesthetic forms inspired by nature.

Kelray Heaters are licensed New Zealand made products. Proudly built in NZ and assembled in Canada.
